Designs

I offer several different designs in t-shirt quilts; however, many times the t-shirts (both number and size of logo) will determine the design of the quilt.  I will work with you to create the look that best suits your needs and wishes.   Below you will find several options that are available, but you are not limited to these designs.

All of my quilts are machine pieced and machine quilted.  I do not tie my quilts!  I also use coorinating flannel backing on all of my lap and bed size quilts unless otherwise specified by the buyer. I use 100% cotton batting which allows optimum comfort and warmth.

I will only use 100% cotton fabric for any additional fabric needs such as borders and bindings.  I typically machine sew my bindings on because I have found over the years that they tend to hold up better in the laundry.  I will, however, do hand sewn bindings for anyone who would prefer that method.

T-shirt quilt with sashing

Example of t-shirt quilt with sashing.

This pattern can be made with any number of t-shirts.  Sashing is the lattice strips between each t-shirt block.  (On this quilt the sashing strips are royal blue.)  A coordinating fabric will be chosen for the lattice or a color of your choice may be used.

THINGS to CONSIDER
1. How many t-shirts do you have?

2.  Are the logos on the shirts similar in size or are they very different in size?

3. Do you want to incorporate various pieces of clothing or just t-shirts?

T-shirt Quilts with no sashing.

This quilt has no sashing.  It can also be made with any number of t-shirts.  These quilts have more of a mosaic design and have coordinating fabric that is used to fill in around the t-shirt squares.  This design is often used when you have many different sized logos on your shirts.

Clothing Quilt with no sashing

In this design, blocks were made out of various pieces of clothing and then sewn together.  Each piece of clothing was framed with black fabric.  This design works well when repeating fabrics.
